Stamp Duty Holiday: Treat yourself this weekend. Posted On 10 July 2020

With Wednesday’s announcement of a Stamp Duty Holiday, some of you have found yourself with an unexpected lump of extra money in your account.

Rishi Sunak’s announcement on Wednesday has led to some of you having a nice lump of money in your account. Money you could use for DIY in your new home, a holiday, or maybe even a new car!!!

However, with the easing of lockdown, let’s look at a few of the smaller, nicer things in life you could do this weekend…

A socially-distance drink or meal out.

Pubs and bars opened last weekend with social-distancing measures in place. On the whole, the opening of pubs and bars hasn’t led to the free-for-all expected and people have been following the rules. Now, with a bit of extra money in your pocket, you could go for a romantic meal out to celebrate the easing of lockdown and the Stamp Duty Holiday.

Alternatively, with the Premier League season down to the last four games, the return of Formula 1, golf and cricket, why not go down to your local to watch the action restart and unfold.

Local Independent shops.

The warm weather is due to return, so why not head to your local High Street and finally complete your summer wardrobe. It’s time to get out of your lounge pants and PJs and get ready to take on the outdoors again in style.

It could well be BBQ weather next week, so get down to your local butchers and pick up some prime cuts of meat. They may be a little pricier than the supermarkets, but they will offer local produce and you will be helping a local business.

Get a haircut! Yes, the queues for hairdressers and barbers were longer than the queues for pubs, but that was last week. This weekend, with some extra pennies, treat yourself to the full works. Get that rinse, get the blowdry and tints… treat yourself, you know you want too!

A day out with the kids.

Zoos and safaris have been open for a few weeks now, and they have socially-distancing in place. Treat yourself and the kids this weekend and go visit some furry friends who’ve missed us as much as we’ve missed them.

Go for a picnic. Beaches and parks are open, so go get some fresh air this weekend. Take a nice picnic, some drinks and enjoy the warmer weather as it returns. It is summer so don’t forget the Pimms, strawberries and cream and a rounders bat and ball.

Just remember, wherever you go, Stay Alert, Stay Safe. And follow social distancing guidelines in place. But most of all, have fun!
