PM announces post-lockdown tiers for England Posted On 24 November 2020

Yesterday, Boris Johnson told the House of Commons that the three-tiered regional measures will return from the 2nd of December.

 

He added that each tier will be toughened, but gyms and non-essential shops in all parts of England will be allowed to reopen. In a surprise announcement, the PM confirmed that spectators will be allowed to return to sporting events.

 

A maximum of 4,000 will be allowed into stadiums in the lowest-risk area, while up to 2,000 fans will be allowed in tier two areas. However, in tier three, no spectators will be allowed.

 

Tier 1 

Follow the Rule of 6

Pubs and restaurants to shut at 11 pm

People encouraged to minimise travel and work from home where possible

Spectators allowed at sports events and live performances (limited numbers)

Personal care including hairdressing allowed

 

Tier 2

Ho household mixing

Rules of six will apply outdoors

Pubs and restaurants to shut at 11 pm

Alcohol only served as part of a substantial meal

Spectators allowed at sports events and live performances (limited numbers)

Personal care including hairdressing allowed

 

Tier 3

No household mixing indoors or outdoors in hospitality venues or private gardens

Rule of six applies in outdoor public spaces

Pubs/Restaurants closed except for delivery and takeaway

Indoor entertainment venues closed

Guidance against travelling in and out of the area

Personal care including hairdressing allowed

 

The official announcement will be spread over the next couple of days, and we will not find out which tier individual areas are in until Thursday. Likewise, we are till waiting on confirmation on any special measures for Christmas.
