Keep on keeping on Britain Posted On 02 March 2021

We’re inching ever closer to the end of lockdown

Just like the last fifty-yards in a marathon or when the open goal is staring into your face, looming larger than ever, now is the time to take a deep breath, regain your composure and push through the hardest test. Now is not the time to start flouting the rules just because we’ve nearly reached the first stage. This is what causes the trip at the finish line or the missed golden opportunity like Roberto Baggio in 94.

In under a week, the schools will go back. This will be a welcome relief for every parent who has had to homeschool over the past few months. Suddenly, next Monday, the house will be empty again during the day. As hard as it’s been, when they’re back at school, you will miss all the time you had together. So this week, get out to the park, play games, talk and really listen to your children, as if all goes to plan, home-schooling won’t happen again.

On the 29th of March, the rule of six will once again come into effect. Be prepared, make a big deal of being able to have people over in your garden. Why not light up the BBQ early? It will be nearly a year to the day that the first lockdown started, so why not make a toast to yourselves with a fine bottle of sparkly and celebrate just how resilient we all are as humans?

If things are still going well, on the 12th of April, shops, gyms, hairdressers, and restaurant and pub beer gardens will open. As will zoos, theme parks and libraries. Make plans with your family and friends. Pick out where you want to go and what you want to see early. Why not plan a pamper day? Get your hair, nails and brows done all on the same day before finishing with a glass of wine in a beer garden.

We’ve reached the 17th of May. You can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors. Theatres, cinemas and museums can re-open. Life is baring some resemblance of normality. We won’t have to listen to the random stadium sound effects at sports events. You can even sit indoors at a pub or a restaurant. Six people can sit in your living room watching TV. You can get on a plane and go on holiday for some much-needed sunshine and relaxation.

However, that is not yet… These are the good things that will come if we continue to follow the rules and have patience. After all, after a year of COVID, what is another couple of months if we can all have our lives back?

Stay Safe. Follow the Rules. Get your jab.
